Kaspersky® Administration Kit

Kaspersky Administration Kit is a powerful and flexible centralized administration tool that is used to deploy and manage integrated enterprise protection systems based on Kaspersky Lab applications.

Companies of all sizes face the conflicting tasks of minimizing the costs of IT systems and maximizing protection of the infrastructure they have in place. Antivirus protection remains a key element of any IT security system. A reliable ready-made solution is ideal when deploying a new antivirus solution or migrating from another product, because IT staff often don't have time to perform a detailed analysis of product features.

Businesses increasingly need reliable protection for their IT systems in order to meet the requirements of regulators (e.g., data protection legislation), business partners and industry standards. IT security staff need to be confident that all the computers connected to the corporate network comply with security policies and that all the elements of protection are functioning properly. If a new device or computer that violates security rules appears on the network, it should be detected and secure operation enforced for the computer and user.

Support for mobile users who work out of office is becoming a standard requirement for security systems. A dedicated security policy for mobile computers is recommended in order to provide full-scale protection for laptops outside the corporate network. The policy is activated automatically whenever a computer is not connected to the administration server (e.g., when the user is on a business trip). The antivirus protection settings defined in the policy take into account the increased risk of infection outside the corporate network.

Support for mobile devices is another significant requirement. Employees are increasingly using their smartphones to store important and confidential corporate data. In the event of a mobile device being lost or stolen, any confidential data in its memory should be deleted or third party access to the device blocked.

About Kaspersky Administration Kit
Kaspersky Administration Kit is used to organize and monitor centralized protection of the entire corporate network, consolidating different protection layers into an integrated system – from Windows and Linux workstations and servers and mobile devices on the Microsoft Windows Mobile and Symbian platforms to mail servers and Internet gateways. The product meets the needs of any company, from small businesses where antivirus protection is installed and configured by outside contractors to large corporate networks with tens of thousands of computers and a distributed administration structure.
With over 50 new and improved features, Kaspersky Administration Kit 8.0 helps to improve employee productivity. The product reduces the total cost of ownership for Kaspersky Lab products and makes protection more effi ient.

Functions

New and improved features

  • Improved efficiency. New automation tools covering a range of tasks, from close integration with company infrastructure and the automatic generation of installation packages to the removal or installation of third-party applications on remote computers, significantly enhance the efficiency of antivirus protection. System status information is much more accessible thanks to dashboards that update in real time.
  • New! Device Control. Kaspersky Administration Kit 8.0 can be used to define a control policy for peripheral devices connected via USB ports on computers with Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Windows Workstations 6.0 Release 2.
  • New! Selection of installation mode. The application supports two installation modes: standard or user-defined. Depending on the company's needs as well as the qualifications administration console interface can be added to a standard installation, including server hierarchy, differentiation of system administrators' rights, application register and network access control.
  • New! Support for new Microsoft platforms. Antivirus applications and administration servers can be installed on Microsoft Windows 7 and Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 (32 and 64 bit versions). Kaspersky Administration Kit 8.0 has undergone independent compatibility testing.
  • Improved! Transparent to the user. The system administrator can perform all system deployment and maintenance work remotely without interrupting employees' work: installation, setup and operation of antivirus applications on workstations are virtually transparent to users. It is now possible to hide the presence of an antivirus product from the user altogether. Other new features include a centralized list of installed applications and support for uninstalling applications in the background.
  • Mobile platform support (Kaspersky Mobile Security Enterprise Edition). Kaspersky Administration Kit can be used to manage security products for mobile platforms (Windows Mobile and Symbian). System administrators can define common security policies for smartphones as well as control device status in various situations (remote blocking or deletion of confidential data on a lost or stolen device and notification of the new number if the SIM is changed).
  • Automatic updating of antivirus databases and program modules. Kaspersky Administration Kit reduces Internet traffic by performing centralized updates. The administration server downloads available updates for selected applications on a regular basis and can automatically distribute them to all the computers it manages, regardless of network configuration.

Training and support

  • Product training. Product training is available from Kaspersky Lab local offices. Courses train system administrators to install and maintain antivirus protection based on Kaspersky Lab products.
  • Free technical support. Kaspersky Lab customers can receive free technical support in English, French, German or Russian via telephone or email. If necessary, the company guarantees to provide an exclusive treatment module or security confirmation within 24 hours.
